Privacy Policy

PacketTrends is a network-monitoring tool. It is built to avoid collecting personal information. We do not ask for your name, and the service has no advertising, no analytics SDKs, and no third-party trackers. We never sell or share your data.

This policy covers the PacketTrends mobile app and the PacketTrends service it connects to.

Our approach: no personal identification

PacketTrends is designed so that we do not need to know who you are:

• No passwords and no email logins. The web app signs in with passkeys (WebAuthn); account identity is a handle you choose, not your email or real name.
• No marketing profile. We do not build advertising or behavioural profiles, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

We make a best effort to prevent personal identification across the system.

What the app stores

To provide the service, PacketTrends stores the minimum needed to make it work:

• Your account handle — the username you pick. Not your name or email.
• A device token — a random value stored securely on your device (iOS Keychain via Secure Store) that authenticates the app to your workspace. It is not derived from any personal identifier.
• A push notification token — if you enable alerts, the operating system's push identifier (Apple APNs / Google FCM) so we can send you a "host up/down" notification. Used only to deliver alerts you asked for.
• The hosts you choose to monitor — the hostnames, IP addresses, ports, and check settings you enter. This is operational data about your infrastructure, not about you, and is visible only within your own workspace.
• Monitoring results — latency, packet loss, TCP handshake metrics, and up/down status for the hosts you monitor.

We do not collect your contacts, photos, location, or device address book.

How we use it

Solely to operate the monitoring service: run your checks, show your dashboard, and send the alerts you enable. We do not use it for advertising or sell it to anyone.

Push notifications

If you enable alerts, notifications are delivered through Apple (APNs) and/or Google (FCM). The push token is used only to route those alerts and can be revoked by disabling notifications or disconnecting the device.

Data retention and deletion

• Monitoring results are retained on a rolling window and age out automatically.
• You can remove hosts at any time from the app.
• You can disconnect a device, which deletes its device and push tokens.
• You can delete your account, which removes your workspace identity and associated data. To request deletion, use the in-app option or reach us via our community below.

Who we share with (processors only)

We do not sell or share data with advertisers. We rely on a small number of service providers strictly to run the product:

• Apple Push Notification service / Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — to deliver alert notifications.
• Our hosting provider — to run the servers that store your workspace data.

These providers process data only to provide their service to us.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). The device token is stored in the platform secure store (iOS Keychain). Authentication uses passkeys rather than reusable passwords.

Children

PacketTrends is a tool for operators and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by a new effective date on this page.
